Jurassic Pixels
A dinosaur themed Twitch overlay

Welcome to Jurassic Pixels, our interactive Twitch overlay allows your audience to spawn their own eggs, which hatch into cute dinosaurs that roam across your stream. Watch as these creatures come to life, bringing an extra layer of engagement to your streams.

Setup

Overlay setup

  1. Start the overlay
  2. On first launch, you will be asked to input your Twitch channel name, don't worry, it can be changed later
  3. Press Continue to access the main menu
  4. Press Start to start the overlay
    1. A browser window will open and ask you to login using your twitch account provided above, this is required to be able to read chat messages and capture chat events
  5. Once logged in, the overlay is ready to be used, please note that everytime you open the overlay, a browser window will open and close to validate your connection to twitch
  6. You can press the Escape key on your keyboard at anytime to open the settings menu

OBS Studio Setup

  1. Start the overlay
  2. In OBS Studio, for the scenes you want the overlay on, add a new source of type Game Capture
    1. For Mode, select Capture specific window
    2. For Window Match Priority, select Window title must match
    3. Select Allow transparency
    4. Press OK to close the Game Capture window
  3. Right click on the newly created Game Source and select Filters
    1. Create a new Chroma key filter
    2. For Key Colour Type, select Magenta
    3. Leave the other values as is
    4. Close the filter window
  4. Use the up and down arrow keys of sources section to put the overlay over your stream content

Update notes

New version - 2024.01.03.01

This update is a patch that corrects 1 bug

  • Map is now automatically updated on change from settings without having to reload the game

New version - 2024.01.04.01

New features

  • Chat bubbles added
    • Optional, if enabled, will show a chat bubble with the message viewers wrote
  • Viewers can now specify which dinosaur they want by adding it to their join command (ex: !join t-rex)
    • If no dinosaur is specified, a random one is selected, as usual
    • The option can be disabled in settings if you don't want to allow viewers to pick a dinosaur themselves
